Lunch with a view?

Hi

I am looking for any recommendations for the best lunch spot with a nice view !? I live in South Tyneside, near Newcastle upon Tyne.

I've booked in a days annual leave tomorrow and just fancy taking myself out for the day, have a little walk around, grab some lunch and maybe read my book with a coffee but in some nice surroundings ! I am willing to travel maybe 2 hours tops. I'm having a little google now but just thought I would see if people had been anywhere themselves :)

I've not been for many years but how about Marsden rock? The grotto has a restaurant

Can you get to Craster in that time?
There are lovely views and a walk to Dunstanburgh Castle.

Also very nice food if you like fish/seafood.

Riley's at King Edward's Bay would be my top spot. You could make a trip of it by getting the Tyne ferry and strolling along from Fish Quay.

The Jolly Fisherman at Craster is a good shout.

The view to Newcastle from the Sage is stunning, and you might be able to find some midday music to go with lunch.

Or are you wanting further afield?

Marsden grotto for sure. I love that place.

Marsden Grotto does lovely food, has a great view out to the sea and also a lovely balcony seating area so it would be perfect for lunch with a view. Theres also lots of lovely bars and cafes on the Quayside in Newcastle and Gateshead. Or how about Durham city? Theres new food places opened that overlook the river and they are lovely.

The Victoria Hotel or The Cove in Robin Hood’s Bay

There were some lovely suggestions !! Just in case anyone is interested, I ended up going to Craster and ate lunch at the Jolly Fisherman! I then went along to Amble for coffee and dessert in the Boat House! It was a beautiful day!

On the Saturday I went to Marsden Rock beach with a coffee and read my book from 6:30am... it was beauuuutiful ! I have done this before because it's such a lovely beach and I get to greet the little dogs on their morning walk !

So thank you for all of your recommendations!! :)

Sounds lovely OP, I am very jealous 😊 love the Northumberland coast, we're very lucky living here for that
