Kent coast

We've got a week booked on the Kent coast this summer and are wondering where the best gems are to visit. It's somewhere we've never been before but looks beautiful.

We have two young teens, one more fussy than the other.

Fun/Quirky places to visit or eat would be so much appreciated. We're staying near Dymchurch. Thanks.

The Pilot at Dungeness does lovely fish and chips.
I'll have a think about other stuff, Dymchurch has a really lovely sandy beach by the way.😊

Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, Leeds Castle, and Rye is a lovely town to visit,

Although Dungeness is a fab beach, Camber Sands is not far away and has miles of golden sands with sand dunes and a couple of nice cafes.

Rye is lovely, and I second the Pilots for fish and chips. Broadstairs is also nice. I'd be wary of Camber, the sea can be a bit treacherous

Dover Castle, has WW2 stuff too
Leeds Castle, has a maze
Canterbury, can punt on the river
Margate for retro style Dreamland Amusement Park & Turner Gallery & trendified eateries
Folkestone Harbour has street food type places to eat
Hastings Caves
Groombridge Enchanted Gardens, can get there on the Spa Valley railway
Chatham Dockyard
And no doubt you will come across the fab Romney, Hythe & Dymuchurch railway - take a trip on it to wander around the beach, grab an icecream & visit the Lighthouse (might only be open Fri/Sat/Sun)

Blueberrycreampie · 03/07/2022 12:20

Yes that's true🙁

Blueberrycreampie · 03/07/2022 12:22

Sorry that was to @runwithme.

ColmanFlamingo · 03/07/2022 13:19

There is a couple of llama walking places near Dymchurch , Alapca Annie does treks but I think you’d need to book soon as they get filled up .

There is the RSPB just on the approach to Dungeness or for contrast, a few miles away in the other direction - Ashford - is MacArthur Glen Designer outlet which also has some nice restaurants.
