Hi all,
I am new to mumsnet and this is my first post here, so please bare with me if I have not followed any set guidelines.
My partner and I currently live and own our home in Coventry (Westmidlands). We do not yet have any children but are hoping to start trying for one, one year from now or so.
We currently own a 3 bed detached and given the current changes to ways of working, we are conscious of the need for extra space. Given our future plans to have kids, we would want to move to a house with a minimum of 4 bedrooms. Our minimum preferences include: detached, ensuite to the master, and ideally a utility room (but willing to forgo utility if we find the house we love). Our budget is around £375-380k.
As we are hoping to start trying for a family in a year's time or so, schools are also a major factor for us. Also, importantly, we would need the area to be commutable to Leeds by train and if possible by car too i.e. close to a train station that can get us directly into Leeds without any changes.. This is because our jobs would likely move close to the rail station in Leeds/ Leeds city centre.
Neither of us have ever lived in the leeds area or have any family here; as such, our knowledge of the areas around leeds is very limited. The main reason we are considering moving north/leeds is due to affordability. We figure we can get a lot more(space and nice locations) for our money than in the midlands.
So far our search or research has centred on the following areas:Morley, East Ardsley/Wakefield. We will be driving through Wakefield next week and thought it would be a good opportunity to stop by and see some areas for ourselves. So we would be grateful to hear people’s views about specific areas to avoid and those to consider that fit our criteria above. Also are there any specific areas in wakefield that are really suitable/nice and those to avoid?
Thanking you all in advance :)
