£1,300pp girls trip - what would you do?

We have £1,300 per person to spend on a girls trip- happy to top up a little.

There will be 4 or 5 of us, we could do a long weekend or up to 5 nights I'd say.

One of the girls London based, others in North East so ideally somewhere in the middle of the country or somewhere we could fly to for the outliers (eg Southampton, Glasgow)

We are not "outdoorsy" we are looking more for a bit of a relax, some pampering or luxury, happy to do some sightseeing but effectively want to treat ourselves.

What would you do with that budget with your group of female friends?

Train to Paris.

HemanOrSheRa · 18/04/2022 11:37

@Housetreecar

Any of the IKOS resorts off peak. Seriously, wales with a budget of £1300 pp. why?

Ikos is pure luxury, you won’t need to spend another penny and it’s ultra all inclusive proper 5*

This is what I would do!
noenergy · 18/04/2022 11:42

I wouldn't stay in the UK with that healthy budget.
New York
Venice
Paris
Turkey

crumpet · 18/04/2022 11:47

I’d go to somewhere like the hotel du vin in Glasgow, find a good day spa, book some lovely restaurants such as the Gannet/ Ox & Finch, spot of sightseeing and perhaps a day trip out - boat trip on Loch Katrine? So much to do.

angelsandinsects · 18/04/2022 11:47

Barcelona. Beach, culture and good food.

SallyCinnamon3009 · 18/04/2022 18:38

I went to a hotel in Crete called nana golden beach and would be great for a girls weekend. It had spa bars restaurants etc. short taxi ride to Hersonisos if you want bars (also not far from stalis and malia 😂)

I'd gone with family but did loom to go back with girls for a long weekend

MargosKaftan · 18/04/2022 19:13

If one member of the group doesn't fly well, could you do a cruise ? You can get 4 night breaks, with that budget you can go fancy on your rooms and treatments on board etc.

Or if you want UK, what about Burgh Island? 1

Anna197264 · 18/04/2022 19:22

How about Malaga? It’s only a couple of hours flight and the weather will be lovely this time of year or Portugal.

DollyPartBaked · 18/04/2022 19:23

I'd stay at one of the Pig hotels. Good food / good company! I wouldn't want the faff of flying so if it was abroad I'd look at Eurostar.

Loopytiles · 18/04/2022 19:25

Am a fan of UK trips in general, but for that budget would far prefer to go abroad, so if 4 of the 5 of you would prefer that, would do that.

SnowRoses · 18/04/2022 19:28

Jersey. Its stunning!

MissBattleaxe · 18/04/2022 19:33

I'd suggest one of the posh lodges at the Celtic Manor. I stayed in one for a friend s birthday and it was very luxurious and you have access to the spa facilities and restaurant. They all have hot tubs and a terrace and lovely views. I think they sleep 8.

jessy100 · 18/04/2022 19:34

Oh God so many places!! Do not stay in the UK. Did someone really suggest wales?? Seville. Madrid. Lisbon. Rome. New York vegas. The world's your oyster..

Horriblewoman · 18/04/2022 19:36

I'd stay in rye for three nights and have one or two nights at Tillingham with wine tasting and dinner.

MissBattleaxe · 18/04/2022 20:13

@jessy100 Oi! Don't slag off Wales!

Pieceofpurplesky · 18/04/2022 20:56

I would say Chester. Stay outside in Carden Park or in the city at The Grosvenor or Indigo. There are some great air bnbs too.
One day shopping in Chester, then food and some of the lovely bars such as The Guild or Prohibition. A day at Cheshire oaks and more food in Chester (loads of excellent places). Another day you could go to the zoo if you like doing things like that or book in to a spa.
Plenty to do and see

I'm not honestly!! It's just that with that budget I would never choose Wales over European cities or the US!

jessy100 · 18/04/2022 21:09

If it's viable, Eurostar to Brugge..great place for a short break. Been a few times. Fab food and drink!

Chocbuttonsandredwine · 18/04/2022 21:58

Sorry but I wouldn’t be going to Chester zoo on a girls weekend away with a budget of £1300 with no kids. Not. A. Chance 😂

MissBattleaxe · 18/04/2022 22:01

@jessy100 fair play but the OPs friend doesn't want to fly. I suppose there's always Eurostar.

44PumpLane · 19/04/2022 04:23

Thanks for all the suggestions, adding to the list to take a look at this week.

Edinburgh is out- 2 of the 5 of us used to live there.

London is out- 3 of the 5 of us used to live there and 1 still does.

Newcastle is out- it's basically one of our local major cities so holds less appeal.

The friend who doesn't travel well basically can't do planes or cruises, could do Eurostar so actually Eurostar may be something to take a further look at.

We are probably all fairly chill about leaving the kids as well.

Budget doesn't HAVE to be £1,300. It's what we have in the pot currently, if we spent £500 per person we would then do another thing/few things. Or there is the option of weekend city break with some spa action then going and buying something like an expensive handbag as a memory and to mark the occasion ......I mean not that I'd want to spend hundreds on a handbag but you know what I mean.

I will look through all the suggestions though thank you!

I feel like the above sounds like one of those puzzles "the man who drinks Malbec loves in the house next to the man who owns the zebra"

Dublin? Lots to see and do and some lovely hotels.
Or Bath, that was going to be my first suggestion.

erinaceus · 19/04/2022 05:21

If Eurostar is okay then Bruges is nice.

Fleur405 · 19/04/2022 05:36

Go to Edinburgh and stay at the Balmoral. It has a nice spa and does afternoon tea in a beautiful room. Edinburgh obviously had plenty to see and many excellent (including Michelin starred) restaurants
