£1,300pp girls trip - what would you do?

We have £1,300 per person to spend on a girls trip- happy to top up a little.

There will be 4 or 5 of us, we could do a long weekend or up to 5 nights I'd say.

One of the girls London based, others in North East so ideally somewhere in the middle of the country or somewhere we could fly to for the outliers (eg Southampton, Glasgow)

We are not "outdoorsy" we are looking more for a bit of a relax, some pampering or luxury, happy to do some sightseeing but effectively want to treat ourselves.

What would you do with that budget with your group of female friends?

Penny Hill Park or Chewton Glen for a long weekend of R&R.

If you want more action then Lisbon, Edinburgh or London.

Is this accommodation only or with meals/spending included?

LynetteScavo · 17/04/2022 21:21

@bestbefore

New York for sure. You cld go premium Economy at least for that!

If you show me this I'll book it now.

housemaus · 17/04/2022 21:23

I'd rent a fancy gite/villa/cottage in Brittany - a short flight or trains for the bad traveller, but nice weather, good beaches, good food etc nearby.

For your budget you could get somewhere gorgeous and have plenty left over for cheese and wine :)

LynetteScavo · 17/04/2022 21:24

I'd go to Bath - a spa hotel and a bit of wandering around, but it might be too out of the way for all of you.

abnb.me/x8GH3pNejpb Something like this and do some special stuff like hire a private chef for a night

AxolotlEars · 17/04/2022 21:34

I went for less than that to New York, for a week

Luredbyapomegranate · 17/04/2022 21:37

Given the time we’ve had I’d go abroad - Rome, or Madrid probably.

Gilly12345 · 17/04/2022 21:46

Celtic Manor (Newport, Wales)

@LynetteScavo have a look on Expedia - just did 5 nights 4 July for it!

York is lovely and fairly central.or Chester for another historical town (plus Cheshire Oaks for good retail therapy)

Or you can’t beat a beach location. North Wales?

gogohm · 17/04/2022 22:25

The new Buxton crescent spa, only opened recently after major building works

womaniswomaniswoman · 17/04/2022 22:28

I would sack the UK with that budget!

Athens is amazing
Copenhagen
Porto
Krakow
Prague

Professionallytorn · 17/04/2022 22:40

I would second Pennyhill Park in Surrey or Chewton Glen in Hampshire for luxury/ pampering / spa 🙂

EachandEveryone · 17/04/2022 22:49

Im going to Mexico for the week on holiday with my girlfriends for that price premium economy all inclusive. I would not spend that on a UK holiday.

That says £2555 Confused- you can definitely go to NY for £1300 (I'm just about to book) but I'd quite like Premium Economy!

Here are some spa hotels. - do you have anyone who might theoretically want to get home in case of emergency for their DC? (Some people aren't comfortable wig their DC) if so you might be able to f in d something nearer to them?

@LynetteScavo budget for OP is £1300 pp!

LynetteScavo · 18/04/2022 09:37

@bestbefore Ah, so that's for 4 people in one hotel room?

Newgirls · 18/04/2022 09:40

For that budget I’d get a swish apartment in London and book a show and a great dinner another night.

bestbefore · 18/04/2022 09:48

@LynetteScavo no that was based on 2 sharing. Just giving an example. Smile

Chocbuttonsandredwine · 18/04/2022 09:58

Edinburgh would be my U.K. pick, or Newcastle and tynemouth although probably not a holiday if you are from NE.

Bath, Oxford or Cotswolds. Belfast is also gray but very hen do at the moment.

If you can persuade non traveller…. Lisbon, Seville, lLake Como, Budapest or Marrakech would be my top 5 long weekend places and amazing for a girls trip and with your budget you’d get great hotels if you shopped around for flights.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 18/04/2022 10:15

I'd be really unhappy about spending 1.3k for a trip away childfree and not even leaving the UK.

CarmenThePanda · 18/04/2022 10:24

Seville

AnotherDelphinium · 18/04/2022 10:27

Ragdale Hall spa resort, it’s amazing!

BrinksmansEntry · 18/04/2022 11:32

Gleneagles?

Or the Caledonian or Balmoral in Edinburgh.

Not sure about Glasgow.

Big fancy hotel just outside St Andrews, but thats a bit of a PITA to get to.
