EastBourne or Exeter

We're starting over and have the choice of living in EastBourne or Exeter.
If you had to choose between the two which would you pick? EastBourne seems to have more housing available within our budget. Neither of us will be working so open to either.

Depends what you want - Exeter has a good range of shops, entertainment and generally is (or feels like) a bigger more varied place than Eastbourne but is out on a limb in comparison to the rest of England, although it is generally well connected by train or motorway. Devon and Cornwall are on your doorstep

Eastbourne is a smalller place which is primarily a seaside resort but its location in the South East makes it easier to get to and from (although the train services can be slow and the A22 can be frustrating). Brighton is reasonably close as are the South downs and Sussex coast.

I guess the answer is to visit both and work out which one you like!

Exeter every time. But there slightly biased as I’ve been there a lot and have friends there. Eastbourne reminds me of long m25 queues and cold wet days.

I would choose Exeter. I think you should consider where family and friends are, if you expect to visit them or vice versa on a regular basis.

Odd choices but of those 2 I’d go for Eastbourne purely for its accessibility by car to places I’d actually want to get to regularly .
