Cornwall Sleeper Train

Hi, has anyone taken the sleeper train?

I am deciding between taking a day train in first class, to enjoy the views, get on with work etc.

Or to get the sleeper train overnight from London down to Penzance. The sleeper train is the more expensive option by a fair bit.

Not to Cornwall, did once to Inverness, but that is a much longer journey. I'd choose the first class train myself in your shoes.

Years ago. It was fun but look at the departure time- you couldn’t board until 22:30 when I went which I imagine would be a pain if you have to work the next day.

I would go for 1st class too. The views are spectacular and you would miss them at night, especially for the 1/2 hour after you leave Exeter- going through Dawlish- make sure you sit on the left hand side!

Yes and it’s great fun. Midnight drinks in the bar etc.

I’d get the day train back though.

I got the sleeper train from Plymouth to London once. I had my own compartment and the train pulled into a quiet side platform so you could sleep for longer if you wanted.
A very civilized experience BUT about as expensive as a hotel room for the night. I was just one step ahead of myself with the journey.
