Things to do in Liverpool

After GREAT success with an old thread about Belfast please help plan my trip to Liverpool!

Arrive sun 20th leaving Tuesday 22nd, stopping at the resident. Me, x2 boys 10 and 15. We don't have a car as travelling by train.

I've booked the sky bar and a light show at the cathedral so far.

Where shall we eat and what shall we do?!

TIA we're very excited!

Sorry to hijack your thread OP! Have just found this and hope you are having an amazing time!

We are due to go to Liverpool (group of 4 ladies) and have looked up lots of things on this great thread.

@MintMocha

The quirky thing looks interesting - is it the sort of thing an adult could go to alone? Or is it more for families/children? Or for groups, like escape rooms?
We went today. Great fun, you can definitely go alone, but many of the photo ops work best in a group. We spent about an hour or so there. There's staff around and they are very happy to help with photos etc.

We've had a fab time so far despite the weather. I didn't think we'd make it but we have!!

Still open for suggestions of 'things to do in Liverpool during a monsoon' Grin

On the list! I was going to do an early evening walk before a light show at the cathedral, but I think cocktails here is a better plan!!

Liverpool is a fabulous city. All of the things to do highlighted by previous posters are great. If the weather is good, Sefton Park is a gorgeous huge Victorian Park. The tour of Anfield Football Stadium is also great. Then there is the shopping. The Cathedrals are extremely photogenic if you’re into photography.

Thanks for letting me know about the Quirky thing. maybe I'll try it even alone, if I have a bit of time.

How many of the things have required pre-booking? What have you enjoyed most (as an adult)? Not keen on football/golf but everything else mentioned sounds good, so I will have to prioritise !

I've now booked for a Sun-Thurs, mid-afternoon to mid-afternoon, so am going to put a rough itinerary together including one day in Chester probably.

I've pre booked lots of stuff, mainly because it was half term but I'm the kind of person who needs a plan, or we'll end up on a cocktail bar tour (which wasn't what I wanted).

The favourite was the light show at the cathedral. Absolutely spectacular. We loved it; it's only on for a short time, but you need to book

The kids loved it! They've made up whatever mocktails they fancied and the swing was a hit! Great recc, thank you

Thanks. Sadly I 'll miss the light show as I'm not there til April, but it sounds great. I'll try to go to the cathedral anyway as I like architecture etc.

I also want to have a rough itinerary as I am a bit of a planner too. It's just me to please, which is good in some ways, but also means I have to choose activities and places to eat that don't make me feel too much of a lemon!

I'll arrive Sunday afternoon and leave Thursday afternoon, probably Wednesday in Chester, though I guess it'll depend on weather. I'll have to look at maps to work out what is close together, but at the same time, I don't know how many museums I would realistically want in one day, even if they are next door to each other! I probably will have to pre-book though as it will be holidays then as well so need to work out a rough idea of what to do when and what the most important things that need pre-booking are (possibly less of an issue on my own I guess).

How did you get on @atomicnotsoblonde? What would you recommend and what would you swerve?

Had an awesome weekend!

Light show at the cathedral was simply incredible
Quirky quarter was a good way to kill a couple of hours
Ridge north bar/cafe was nice
Almost famous burgers were epic
Great pub food at clockwork restaurant
Brass monkeys cocktails were fab!
Hated Matthew street area
The docks were nice, but the weather was rubbish so we didn't explore this as much as we wanted
Junkyard golf was fun for the kids
Baltic market was quiet, but expect it would be great at a busier time

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions!! We will be back!
