Tips for Brighton with a 12 year old

Ichangedmynameonce · 12/02/2022 09:16

My daughter and me are going to Brighton for 2 days/ 1 night and staying in a hotel.

I know the shops, the Laines etc but would really welcome any great ideas on things to do, places to eat, brilliant cake shops etc.

She likes quirky things, skateboarding, marvel films etc.

She loves cool burger places so a recommendation for dinner would be great.

Shes having a rough time at school and I just want her to have a lovely time.

Thanks so much

I’d suggest MeatLiquor for an evening meal. The Ivy in the Lanes also has a cool interior, great food and service.
Wafflemeister, Crepe Affaire and Jojo’s Gelato are fun.
If she likes quirky, then definitely visit the Upside Down House

Oeuf cafe in hove for a brunch! I’f she’s sporty the zip wire on the seafront

Ichangedmynameonce · 12/02/2022 10:44

I’ve been thinking all day 😀

There used to be this brilliant thing called philleas fog but I think that’s shut down over Covid

What are her interests??

Movingonup22 · 12/02/2022 16:09

Oh sorry you said quirky - there is a wakeboarding thing at hive lagoon which my niece went crazy for you - it might be cold??:

Shelter Hall on the beach is great for food - pizza, Asian, Mexican, sushi. With amazing sea views. Very cool.

Movingonup22 · 12/02/2022 16:11

7burgers in hove very cool joes burgers will make you cry with joy

rightsideoftheroad · 12/02/2022 16:12

That's also near the upside down house (shelter hall). I do actually really enjoy the i360, great views on a day like today (if you like heights)

Movingonup22 · 12/02/2022 16:12

Someone does roller skating lessons on the promenade if you can search it

Newnormal99 · 12/02/2022 16:15

I would head to north Laine rather than the lanes proper.

ChoccyJules · 12/02/2022 16:17

Mine enjoyed the luminous crazy golf over at the Marina.

Helpimfalling · 12/02/2022 16:18

Cereal killer cafe?

Movingonup22 · 12/02/2022 16:19

Oh my god yes!!!! The golf at the marina!!! My niece still talks about it how could I forget!!!

Inextremis · 12/02/2022 16:19

@Newnormal99 As s longterm (now lapsed) Brighton resident I thank you for your correct usage of The Lanes and North Laine :) It's a personal bugbear!

catfunk · 12/02/2022 16:27

The marina has glow in the dark golf and a 5 guys.
Or you could walk along the sea front and watch the basketball/ skaters between the old pier and peace statue.
The New club opposite the i360/ old pier is a cool New York diner place with great burgers.
Duke of York's cinema either in komedja or Preston circus are fun if the weathers not great. Meat liquor is also close to the Preston Circus cinema.
Hope she has fun x

catfunk · 12/02/2022 16:28

Also maybe check out what's on at komedia or theatre royal on the evening

Penhaligon · 12/02/2022 16:44

There's the Ivy in the Lanes and if she likes Harry Potter there's a shop called Oliver's. You have to book that though.
Theatre Royal or The Dome might be nice.

Ichangedmynameonce · 12/02/2022 19:18

These are great! Thank you all for so many ideas

I haven't been here but it looks ace
Paradox Place

Seemytrainers · 12/02/2022 19:40

My DC love Marvel and are big fans of Dave's Comics on Sydney Street. There are 2 stores a couple of shops apart.

Loading gaming bar - retro consoles/board games etc. Its on the beach by the pier.

I agree that the i360 is worth doing. Likewise the Upside Down House.

Although locals tend not to go to the pier we love an hour in the arcades, particularly the 2p machines, and a bag of hot cinnamon doughnuts.

I hope you have a lovely time.
