I'm meeting a friend in Bath soon, staying for a couple of nights, would love some restaurant and wine bar/cocktail bar recommendations please

The Ivy is nice and The botanist is next door

Jillian45 · 25/01/2022 11:51

Why are you eating in a bath

ThatIsHowTheLightGetsIn · 25/01/2022 16:25

Lucky you. My fave is the Circus Restaurant. Have a great time

I love the interiors of Sotto Sotto and Opa. Opa is Greek and there’s usually the traditional plate smashing at the end of the meal. It gets lively but you can also nip outside to enjoy a drink on their terrace alongside the river.
If you're into steak then Hudson's, it's the best in the city. You can get pre-dinner drinks at the bar downstairs before tucking in upstairs. Make sure you’re hungry because the starters are delicious too, and portions are big.
The Scallop Shell does posh fish and chips and a really decent selection of wine.

Thanks for those-all look good.

I eat quite a lot at The Ivy so was looking for places not tried before.

What is The Green Park Brasserie like? Is it worth a visit?

We're not after fine dining particularly, just nice food and drink in a preferably independent bar/restaurant

DustySpringboard · 06/02/2022 14:18

So we ate at Framptons and Sotto Sotto, both fabulous meals

We also found a couple of places for brunch and the most amazing cakes but both names escape me for the moment.

Thanks for all those suggestions-will keep this thread as intend to go again later in the year; Bath is such a lovely place
