Good Breakfast in London

Hi
We're heading to London next month with our two DC (ages 15 and 13). DD and I are going to the theatre and we're staying overnight near Leicester Square. We're looking for somewhere decent (but not wildly expensive) for breakfast on the Sunday. Not too late as we want to head to the Science Museum I think.

DS is a meat/cheese/spice type of person while DD is definitely fruit/french toast/pancakes/waffles. DH and I are not particular!
Any ideas?
Thank you.

Jump on the tube straight to South Kensington and go to Le Pain Quotidien?

foobio · 16/01/2022 21:19

Dishoom?
Find a posh hotel nearby that does a good breakfast?

The Breakfast Club has a large American style menu. There’s quite a few of them in central London. They’re quite fun.

The breakfast club in soho could work, fairly sure it ticks all the boxes food wise

Brasserie zedel?

Just off Piccadilly.

Never had breakfast there but dinner is good!

My recommendation is that you book, we were in London in December and found it quite hard to get breakfast (surprisingly so us( and ended up in All Bar One which was fine but we'd hoped for a more independent cafe (they were all full)

The Ivy Market Grill is really good for breakfast- it’s on the corner of the Covent Gdn piazza and Henrietta St. You wouldn’t need to jump on a tube to South Ken for Pain Q as there is one in Covent Garden Piazza!

BrennieGirl · 16/01/2022 21:38

Just around from South Kensington tube www.murielskitchen.co.uk/restaurants/south-kensington

Very good eggs.

Dishoom

Carluccios does a great breakfast and is right by the South Ken tube station. It opens at 9 on Sundays

Verite1 · 19/01/2022 12:57

The Wolseley does a fantastic breakfast.

JorisBonson · 19/01/2022 13:25

The Regency does the best fry up in all of London. A scientific fact.

Saisong · 19/01/2022 13:47

We use a lovely place at the back of Waterloo station called Balance (on Lower Marsh). They do a lovely blend of fusion and Mediterranean foods, plus pancakes etc. Plenty of other cafes and restaurants down there too. Bit of a stretch to walk from Leicester Sq, but doable.

I don't think they do breakfast, except in the teeny tiny cafe bit.
MadeInChorley · 19/01/2022 19:45

The Delaunay on Aldwych is special. I’d recommend booking anywhere for breakfast.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/01/2022 19:48

Mildreds do a great breakfast range, if you don't mind it being vegan.

Otherwise, another vote for Dishoom.

LeQuern · 19/01/2022 19:48

Second the Delaunay or the Wolseley. Both are wonderful (priced above a cafe but absolutely worth it).

ivykaty44 · 19/01/2022 19:50

The Wolseley does a fantastic breakfast.

ive booked this place a couple of times and it doesn't disappoint, the service is great, the building is unique and the food good but not expensive - in fact I paid less here than betty's in harrogate

BitterTits · 19/01/2022 19:51

Well my DCs think a Premier Inn breakfast is the height of luxury!

PutYourBackIntoit · 19/01/2022 20:00

Gilbert & Scott is wonderful by Kings Cross

PutYourBackIntoit · 19/01/2022 20:03

Scrap that apparently it's permanently closed :(

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/01/2022 20:07

Granger & Co at Kings Cross has lovely coffee and the best granola I've ever tasted - it's a bit overpriced though imo.

Not had breakfast at the Wolseley, but it's a great place for afternoon tea.

gogohm · 19/01/2022 20:10

We went to giraffe last time we were in London, on south bank but it's a chain so suspect there's a better location

Kabloom · 19/01/2022 20:12

First thought was the Wolseley. Also Granger and Co. we always used to go here before the museums www.bromptonfoodmarket.com/
