Does anything happen usually on NYD in non Covid times? I can’t remember and struggling with google. Is there usually a NYD walk along Princes Street?

Not a lot from memory! Most things are closed or don’t open until midday and the buses run a very limited service. Are you thinking of the torchlight procession? That’s usually the day before Hogmanay I think. The national museum used to do a bit of a family event on NYD and the Xmas markets are still on. There’s a looney dook at south Queensferry if you want to pay money to the organisation who seem intent on turning the city into Disneyland, or a free “unofficial” one at portobello.

No because Hogmanay is the big celebration and everyone needs 2 days to recover 😂. Supermarkets etc don’t open until midday. Not sure if the Christmas market opens but it would be later if it did.

Thanks. I don’t know why but I thought there was a NYD parade, not the torch light one. I was sure there was something around lunch time but may be not.

Are you maybe thinking of the cavalcade which is part of the Festival?

That’s probably it Musical. Thanks.
