Does anyone know York well?

I’m looking for an Air BnB near York (with parking). Can you suggest a decent area where we can easily get a taxi to and from or even jump on a train and be in York in 2 or 3 stops.

Or even a family run or locally run hotel on the outskirts of York rather than a chain? Thanks.

We stayed in a 2 bed cottage with parking just opposite the racecourse. 15 minutes walk into town.

It IS a Best Western BUT it has parking….and a pool and a 10 minute walk from the centre and the train museum. Oh and the staff are lovely.

It was called Ebor Cottage. Can't remember what site we booked it through, maybe cottages 4 you?

Another chain but the Hull Road Travel lodge has ample free parking and is walkable into town.

I think there are a couple of hotels with parking and it’s walkable in The City Centre

Hotel du Vin is central and has parking.

Parking for one car - it says a "small car" but we have a renault scenic and it was fine.

If you're not needing luxury we stayed at the Youth Hostel because it had parking and was walking distance or a short bus ride into the city centre.

Parking for 2 cars. Just outside York. The park n ride services are efficient.
