Northern Beach Huts!

blackforesthotchoc · 28/11/2021 18:59

Bit random but have been trying to find beach huts to rent for the day in the north west - all the beach hut rental websites seem almost entirely southern based, with a couple in Wales. Weve been to the st Anne's beach huts a few times which are obviously delightful but wanted a change. Tried Airbnb but no luck. Anyone aware of any websites or knows of anywhere else we can find? I suppose that the huts themselves are just not as common up north. We have a family tradition of at least one winter beach trip - obviously we can go to st Anne's again and I'm sure have a great time but was hoping for somewhere different!

I live in the NW and don't think I've noticed beach huts anywhere on the coast at all. Then I wondered about one bit I've not really been to, which is Fleetwood - looks like there are some there though I don't know if they're for hire or what the beach would be like in winter.

I looked at the Fleetwood one - apparently there are some on loan but I can't find anywhere you can actually do it. You would think there would be more places you can go inside to escape the elements in the north west beaches than the southern ones Grin

...I don't think they're a thing in the North.

Not helpful, but there are several in Northumberland.

A lot of that coast wouldn't really be suitable for huts - salt marsh or dunes. If you built a hut on the Formby/Ainsdale stretch it would probably get buried in sand.

I've rented them at Litham St Annes.

I know you stated NW, but if you are flexible with location, there are beach huts in Scarborough, Bridlington, Whitby, Filey on the North East coast.

Beach huts at Scarborough are beautiful- some of them have an upstairs!

Maybe not in the north west but they are in the north east.

OP, as well as the places already mentioned in Yorkshire and Northumberland there are beach huts to hire at Blyth beach.

WarriorN · 29/11/2021 09:34

It's a north east thing

The OP says in her post that she’s rented the ones at St Anne’s a few times and fancies a change.

blackforesthotchoc · 29/11/2021 18:53

Could be flexible in location in the north - or at any rate will have to be!

I only know of them in parts of Northumberland (Blyth upwards) and North Yorkshire- Whitby has some.

Some of them at Bridlington have water and electricity which is great as you can boil a kettle.

If you stay at The Sands at Scarborough some of the apartments include a free beach hut during your stay.

Thanks by the way for suggestions so far Smile

Ive done Lytham and Scarbados. The two story ones at Scarborough are dreamy.

They definitely are a thing in North Yorkshire but I don't know about the North West.
