City day spa recommendations

I'm looking for either a hotel with (really lovely) spa facilities or a separate spa within walking distance of a city centre with plenty of shops, restaurants etc if anyone can recommend anywhere.

We're in the Midlands but happy to travel within 2 hours of Birmingham...
Any tips would be much appreciated

Sorry, like the pp, then Carden isn't within walking distance of Chester city centre but about a 30 min drive away

Thanks. We're relying on public transport hence the city centre requirement.. I like Bath but can't find a way of booking the spa in advance but maybe we could just risk turning up!

Don’t turn up! Ring in advance. What with Covid there may be some restrictions, fewer clients etc.

Have you thought about Liverpool? Its a very compact city with loads going on, easily walkable
