I'm mid 50s and have never been away on my own so looking for ideas for a weekend break.
I was supposed to be going caravanning in Cornwall for 2 weeks in Sept but my car was involved in an accident so we couldn't tow for a month
. Various other delays and lost our pitch fees (which I hope to recover as other driver's fault).
I suggested we air bnb or book a hotel for a short break for now but DP is being a total wanker saying its a waste of money and a rip off! This as opposed to a cheap week in a caravan, but the weather is worsening and I just don't fancy being stuck on a campsite in the rain. I'm a fairweather caravanner and anyway I really fancy a change.
I'm self employed and desperate for a break before winter.
Slightly daunted at the idea of solo travelling (pathetic I know), so can anyone suggest anywhere within 2/3 hours of South Wales. I like historical places, museums, quaint shops, nice cafes, bookshops, antiques, walking, enjoying nature etc.
I've been to Bath and will probably return for my birthday in January. So far I've thought of Ludlow and Shrewsbury.
