Heading to mumsnet for help as you guys solve all my problems. Can anyone recommend a holiday rental for a weekend away I am trying to organise for my friend's hen do?
The dream list is:

  1. Close to a city centre for a brief nightclub stint.
  2. Outdoor space, pref hot tub / pool
  3. No more than £3200 ish for Friday and Saturday night in peak season (next summer)
No further North than Manchester due to travel logistics (we are mainly south west) I have searched and searched but nothing is quite right. Please help or feel free to shamelessly plug your own large property if you have one you'd rent out.

The advice you will get here are (i) keep it affordable and (ii) split costs fairly so don't force non drinkers to pay for lots and lots of alcohol which they can't drink

RAFHercules · 13/09/2021 17:17

Does it have to be a house or would you look at hotels? To be honest I think you will struggle to find a house of that size that hasn't been converted to mini apartments as they are more lucrative to rent out.

Burnamer · 13/09/2021 17:19

You might be better going more rural and hiring a coach for the night out. Close to a city plus the outside space is a tough call.

cameocat · 13/09/2021 17:22

www.coolstays.com have some bigger properties

Rainbowshine · 13/09/2021 17:24

Have you looked here:

kateandtoms.com/large-holiday-homes/

If you tell us where you have looked then you won’t get loads suggesting what you’ve ruled out.

I think to be honest you will struggle to get a weekend in the peak summer season. Most only have week long bookings that time of year.

Maybe there’s a small hotel with a pool instead? Like this one on the English Welsh border

I feel you may struggle for 20+ in one place.
But I would recommend Liverpool, it has quiet tranquil places, Beaches, plenty of night life but fine dining too, its compact city so easy to get about

Thanks everyone so far. Yes, I think her heart is really set on a house rather than hotel. She wants somewhere everyone can relax and chat all together for a lot of the time. Kate and Toms have lush properties but generally out of our price range. I think being south doesn't help with prices, so Liverpool might be worth a look but a long way for most to travel.

Just because the bride has her heart on something doesn’t make it possible or even practical.

MyMabel · 14/09/2021 22:11

Barnstaple (Devon) have just opened a roller disco place! It’s where I plan to have my hen party. We’re south west too but getting married in Devon. My idea is to rock on down to ilfracombe/woolacombe, stay in a nice lodge with a hot tub, go for nice lunches and do a night at the roller disco. It looks fab!

Rainbowshine · 15/09/2021 08:31

Has the bride actually thought about other people’s budgets? She might want that but if it’s beyond a reasonable amount then no one will go. Also this kind of accommodation will be more expensive as lots of people are still planning UK holidays instead of abroad or big family get togethers to catch up so the prices have increased to what they were pre Covid.

Why don’t you give her the cost for a big house down south compared to a hotel in a city or any other variant and show her that it’s cheaper so all the better for getting people to come and enjoy themselves.

This believe it or not is about 8 miles from Liverpool city centre, its only open to the public on rare occasions as its used for Private hire functions and as a film set

It's really hard to get holiday cottages this big. I've seen them in the Cotswolds, lake district, kind of outdoorsy areas.

Otherwise something like centre parcs or multiple cottages on a small site?

Dyrne · 15/09/2021 10:09

I agree you’ll have much better luck if you widen your search area away from a city centre and arrange for a party bus or something to bring you in for nightclub etc.

Hyggemama · 15/09/2021 11:23

Thank you. Yes, it is asking a lot, I know. I have narrowed it down and also found some exclusive hire rates for youth hostels which tend to be more reasonable. A roller disco in Barnstaple sounds fab! I have looked at Centre Parcs prices too so now have whittled it down to about 5 which are in budget but all have different pros and cons. Thanks for your help!

Now Im desperate to stay there lol

Funf · 16/09/2021 07:46

LovePoppy
Might be worth an Email you never know the rates until you ask, its a fantastic unspoilt place, the website only shows part of it
It also has a Spa

LovePoppy · 18/09/2021 01:52

The UK would have to let me in first lol

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 21/09/2021 17:13

Have you looked at Gloucester? I can't advise on properties but it had a great vibe when we passed through in the summer, especially down by the waterfront.

ImInStealthMode · 26/09/2021 09:49

Have you looked at the Shankly in Liverpool OP? They've got 'party rooms' that sleep up to 30.

My idea of hell but might work with your plans?

escapeyou · 26/09/2021 09:58

What about finding a bed and breakfast that you can have full use of for the weekend?
