October half term:

Dh and I have a big birthday in November, and were hoping to get overseas with the teens (15/17) in their Oct half term, but we're thinking it might be a bit of a push/too much risk of cancellation. Any recommendations for somewhere that will be a bit luxurious; a bit of stuff to do locally (walking if weather allows; some culture; nice food): we spend a lot of time in the South West, so ideally not Devon, but otherwise fairly open. I realise that's a bit of an vague brief, but any suggestions: I know we've left it late....

I would go to London.

Ah, should have said 30 mins on train from London, so probably not London, sorry!!

Portmeirion?

York
Harrogate
Bath
Bristol

I was actually looking at Portmerion earlier: is there enough locally to do for more than a few days? Bath we've done for a weekend previously: York/Harrogate is a good call, and not somewhere the dc have ever been....

Ah ok in that case I would say Liverpool.

Dh and I love Liverpool, but it’s ages since I’ve been for anything other than short work stays. Any suggestions for nice places to stay/things to do @Hellocatshome?
