Looking to go away for a couple of nights in oct with a 10yo, 7yo & our dog. We want to be within approx 2 hours of Manchester. Was considering cotswolds but another thread suggests there isn’t loads to do so was looking for inspiration plse.
Not Northumberland/Whitby as we’ve been there this year. Am still thinking the cotswolds would be nice but not sure if there would be enough to do there. We like beaches, eating out, walks. We do enjoy swimming/go ape type things but we are obviously restricted by the dog.

Lake District? Less option for beaches but then I'm not sure the Cotswolds would offer that either and there's plenty of lakeside beaches for paddling / dog swimming if the weather is ok.

Somewhere in the Peak District. There’s loads to do and for most of it you can take your dog too.
Dogs are allowed down Peak and Speedwell Caverns. You can’t take them down Poole’s Cavern (which also has a Go Ape), but you’re allowed to leave them unattended at the picnic area which is in view of the main offices.
My DC loved the play area and farmyard at Chatsworth, and I’d definitely recommend eating and shopping in the on-site farm shop.

Okay we’ve decided on the Lake District. No idea why I couldn’t think of that area myself. We love it up there and haven’t been for years. Now to find somewhere to stay

@Ricekrispie22 thanks for the tip about dogs at Poole cavern. I do fancy visiting there one day so will remember that. He’s an anxious boy though (pampered baby)
