UK break on train in mid September

Looking for ideas for a UK break but will be travelling to my destination by train.
My nearest station is Shrewsbury so fairly central, so would love to hear people suggestions on which cities/towns to visit, things to do and hotel recommendations for couple in 30's.

Do either of you drive so could rent a car at the other end or does everything need to be in one area ?

neither of us drive so everything by train or bus

Looe in Cornwall, there's a train station there and are lots of buses in and around the area to get to Polperro and Fowey.

I love Bath and there’s so much do to. Apart from the Roman Baths, I’d definitely recommend the Jane Austen museum, fashion museum and No. 1 Royal Crescent. It’s also possible to get coach trips out to see Stonehenge and it takes about 45mins to get to Bristol by train so you could certainly spend the day there too. I’d suggest eating at Sally Lunn’s, the Pump Room, Sotto Sotto and The Ivy Bath Brasserie.

Bristol. There’s lots of good restaurants and pubs.
We’ve stayed at Brook Street guest house, which is good and central.

Another vote for Bristol/Bath - maybe a couple of nights in each?

Yes, yes, yes to Bath!!!!
Good luck in getting into the rooftop spa though....we were out of luck, we went last month and tried to book by phone and online but no chance :(
