Deep Sea World- Edinburgh

What’s it like? Is it worth a trip? Currently in Fife, having a great time, thinking of visiting Deep Sea World, ds12 & dd 16. The underwater tunnel sounds/looks really good.

I haven't been in many years but when I did go the children seemed to like it. You exit through the gift shop so beware the pester power! It isn't in Edinburgh though. It is in Fife.

ApolloandDaphne · 18/08/2021 17:07

I have just realised the ages of your DC. I suspect the 16yo may not be very impressed! It's not a very big aquarium.

Smeds · 18/08/2021 17:23

I think its a bit rubbish to be honest and very over priced. Definitely wouldn't bother with teenagers.

Invisimamma · 18/08/2021 17:31

It's terrible. Don't waste your money. It's quite run down and the whole things takes about 45mins start to finish.

SailorGirl3 · 18/08/2021 17:33

You can get in and out within a couple of hours, very expensive for what is there. I wouldn't recommend going, especially taking teenagers

Invisimamma · 18/08/2021 17:45

Take a look at trip advisor, the recent reviews are not good. It's certainly not somewhere I'd visit with teens.

Lovelydovey · 18/08/2021 17:51

They enjoyed it as toddlers but it wouldn’t hold their attention now (9 and 12).

FelicityPike · 18/08/2021 18:10

Nope. It’s a bit crap. My 6 year old walked round it once, said “the other one is better, can we get McDonald’s?” The other one is the one at Loch Lomond (it’s not that great either btw).

DoucheCanoe · 18/08/2021 18:18

We went last month with my 8 year old and although she enjoyed it we were out within 1.5 hours so I thought it was a bit pricey for what's there.

liveforsummer · 18/08/2021 18:42

It's a bit shit tbh. Ok for smaller kids. Something to pass an afternoon but not a day. Although you can get the train from Edinburgh over the bridge which makes it all a bit more exciting and more if a day out.

liveforsummer · 18/08/2021 18:43

Sorry missed that you were in fife so ignore the bridge crossing bit

bookishtartlet · 18/08/2021 19:00

Avoid. Have you thought about getting the ferry from South Queensferry to Inchcolme Island? Cheaper and far better. There's a few companies who run tours, think maid of the forth allow you to spend time on the island itself too. Would suit teens far better.

Stroller15 · 18/08/2021 19:08

Yep, it's a bit rubbish, I wouldn't spend money on it. Is Edinburgh too far? I think even the zoo or camera obscura would be nicer for teenagers.

harryandmarv · 18/08/2021 21:14

Thanks everyone, we’re giving it a miss, the ‘kids’ aren’t really bothered anyway!
