Has anyone been to Broadstairs and would you recommend for a short break?

Desperately trying to find somewhere that would suit 14 year old dd who hates sightseeing etc.

Never been sorry @bendmeoverbackwards

Where did you choose in the end?

I went to Broadstairs a couple of weekends ago. It was charming but busy, we arrived about 9.30am on a Sunday and got a parking space near the Morelli's ice cream parlour. I had heard it could get really busy so went for a sundae/coffee there early. Then we went across the road to the beach. When we came back to look for early lunch around noon there were long queues at the parlour and we had to walk around quite a lot to find a restaurant with space.

The beach was clean, very sandy and good rockpools also. There were fairground type rides in the gardens above the beach and lots of the shops and restaurants looked great, but very busy!

We went on to botany bay as we were booked in at the hotel there. The beaches around there were really quiet especially water gate bay. Went on to Margate which was not that intesting for us and I didn't find it charming or picturesque, but maybe better suited to older kids with the dreamland amusement park ( my dc is 6).
However it was easy to find hot fresh sugar ring donuts there!

Sounds lovely, thanks for the info @happysunr1se We've booked for somewhere else now but keen to give Broadstairs a try at a later date.
