Islay honeymoon

We're going on honeymoon to Islay at the end of September. Any recommendations for things to do, restaurants and general tips? We'd like to do the Lagavulin distillery tour but it's not available when we're there. Anyone know if the warehouse experience includes seeing around of the distillery or just tasting? Thanks!

Book the ferry now. We were in Campbeltown and desperate to go. No idea the ferry would booked so far in advance.

We've got flights booked already. Thanks though! :)

Hey @TurdCrapley we did the Lagavulin warehouse tasting last year as they weren't doing the tour then either. It was very good fun as the guides are such excellent storytellers. We were reluctant as well but glad we did it.

The distillery is part of the three distilleries walk which starts in Port Ellen and doesn't take long. depends on your interests really? The walk to the American Oa is stunning on a nice day.

Machair Bay, the Oa. It's all nice there really.
We found Lagavulin the least friendly of all the distilleries. It's very pretty but not (in our experience) that customer oriented. Kilcoman has a lovely cafe too.
It's a lovely island to visit.

We enjoyed the Bruichladdich distillery very much. That was 10 years ago, so I have no idea what it's like now. We also enjoyed Jura and its distillery if you are up for a ferry trip. Again, that was 10 years ago.
