Weekend break to London with child?

I'm planning on having a weekend away with my 15 yo next spring. I've been to London before but not for about 18 years.

We plan to do a bit of shopping and some sight seeing. What area would you recommend to stay in? Looking for a reasonably priced hotel in a central location.

Thank you 😊

Look at the youth hostels. There’s a few in London.

I have stayed at travel lodges, ibis styles and the millennium hotel Kensington recently for decent prices. Most recently we stayed at a famous 5 star for less than any of these because in May when things reopened it ridiculously cheap due to covid

We've stayed in those 'secret' hotels on lastminute.com which have been great... they're not really secret because you can google the description!

Also stayed in a Travelodge plus and a premier inn. All have been fab actually. There's so many to choose from.

If you're close to one or two tube stations I'd say you're absolutely sorted. We stayed near Tower bridge and near Aldgate street.

My DS has just booked Holiday Inn in Regents Park for 2 nights at £145, we’ve stayed in Holiday Inn Piccadilly which is walking distance to Buckingham Palace and Radisson hotel in Leicester Square.

Thanks for all your suggestions so far.

I have now booked the flights so will start searching for a place to stay 😊👍🏻
