Alton towers

Wondering about a trip to alton towers and a few questions if anyone can help?

  • is there much that a 5 and 7 yr old would like (and they get easily travel sick so rides would have to be fairly mild!)?
  • what are the queues like for 'kiddie' rides?
  • is it worth staying overnight? Waterpark worth it for another day, or better value for older kids?

Many thanks

We have just been (July 2021).

Our 6 & 9 year old loved the splash park. Can do all the rides with an adult if too small. Splash park most enjoyable for me! Lovely outdoor bit if good weather.

Staying overnight gets you into splash park an hour early, but no early entry into main park at the moment.

The main park is huge; it is worth looking at what they can go on as for the scariest rides you need to be 1.4m. New rides in David Walliams part; queues 1hr for most popular, but lots of rides without much of a queue. We didn't go to CBeebies Land.

6 year old enjoyed driving school and Gangsta Granny. Also Battle Galleons. 9 year old is 1.46m and went on everything and loved them all.

Take food! Lots of places to fill up water bottles.

Yes the kiddie area is really good, it’s not just rides, there are play areas (soft play style) interactive areas, a ball pool/shooting place.
There’s a lot for little ones.

It really depends on the day of the week, if it’s school holidays, the weather and the time of day, but generally not too bad.

It depends how far you are travelling, I’ve been to AT hundreds of times and I’ve never regretted staying over, there is so much to do having two days to spread it across makes it a lot less stressful, you don’t need to worry about rushing to fit in certain rides.
The hotel is great.
The water park is ok, but I’d just spend a second day in the park, it’s better value for money.
