North Wales ‘Rhyl’?

Staying in north Wales in a few weeks, not far from Rhyl. We have booked Chester zoo but what else is there for 2 teen DD’s, both with ASD and one with mobility issues? Also looking for somewhere to stop on the way home travelling down to Dorset (so somewhere half way to break up the drive)?

Go to Llandudno - lots to do there. The beach, the pier, toboggan run, tram up the Great Orme. Probably do a couple of days. Conwy and the castle.

Marsh tracks bike park in Rhyl

Sorry pressed too soon -

Conwy and the castle, fish and chips on the harbour.

Chester itself, walk the walls. Check out moonlit flics to see what films are on.

Snowdonia

AllThatGlistensIs · 26/07/2021 20:32

Llandudno, colwyn bay, towyn and rhos on sea all much nicer places to spend the day than Rhyl, although the beach there is nice.

The Nova Beach hut in Prestatyn (10 mins drive from Rhyl) is absolutely gorgeous to sit and eat/ drink and watch the sunset over the beach.

Thank you, we will do Llandudno ,we have done Conwy castle before and Snowdonia, was hoping to stay pretty close by to where we are staying or Chester as I don’t want to be driving too much once we get there as we have a 5 hour drive to get there 😭 (I’m a single parent so can’t share driving).

Llandudno is similar driving distance to Chester

Now Rhyl isnt the poshest place around but its good value and smack in the middle to allow a short drive to see lots of very different places.
If you are going to Chester then Liverpool is a must as its about 60-90 mind drive go after rush hour, dont forget its £20 each way on the Runcorn Bridge and its online payment!

Ha @Funfyou got that right! I grew up in Prestatyn. My 1st job was in Woolies in Rhyl in the late 90s and daily I would see the security guard wrestle some thieving druggy to the ground 🤣🤣

Annoy · 27/07/2021 13:47

Sorry... meant for @Funf

Gribbie · 27/07/2021 14:13

The bridge is £2 not £20! I know just a typo but just in case people in future don't realise.

Zipworld forest or their other sites are amazing, my kids love the tree top nets.

Adventure parc Snowdonia has great activities too.

Rhos on sea is good for crabbing which my kids always enjoy, there is a hickory’s smokehouse restaurant there too.

Conwy is a nice town for a walk around the castle and the town walls, lovely fish and chips to take down to the marina too.

Funf · 29/07/2021 18:21

Thanks for the Correct Toll, it is as you say £2 but if you forget its a £20 fine!
