Northumberland coast

Hi, I am looking to book a 2 bed cottage for a week from August 14th ideally near the Northumberland coast. Anyone have any suggestions (other than be more organised and book earlier!!!) Thanks Mumsnetters - I did see one available in Newbiggin by Sea would anyone recommend that area?

I spent a weekend in Newbiggin nearly 30 years ago and it was horrible. It may of course have improved since then!

South Shields has a beautiful coastline, lots of pubs and restaurants, and easy access to Newcastle via the Metro. May still be able to book something as it's not a well known tourist spot.
