Brancaster/North Norfolk

Am staying in Brancaster for a week from Sunday. Two adults, two early teen DCs who don't usually do much outdoorsy stuff. We are certainly not sea-faring types.

Any suggestions on where to go, what to do, and particularly, where to eat, please? We will have a car, and have NT membership.

I would like a day in Norwich if the fine weather breaks, but otherwise nothing planned.

Cheers!

Holkham Hall, Holkham Beach and lunch at the Victoria which is part of the estate . Sandringham Country Park , not sure if the house is open but worth a visit if it is. Houghton Hall usually has an outdoor exhibition just check the web, only stately home I know with takeaway G&T , don’t miss the Walled Garden.

Nelson’s church at Burnham Overy Staithe , has the flags from his ship and he grew up there as his father was the parson. Seal trip from Blakeney Quay ( also worth a mooch around village plus lunch at The White House) or Morston Quay. Lots of lovely walks from Blakeney.

Outdoor pizza at Wiveton Cafe or the Globe at Wells next the Sea , steam train to Cromer from Holt. Muckleborough Collection if they are into tanks etc . Potter around Burnham Market

Other good places to eat are the Jolly Sailor at Brancaster or the White Horse, The Bell at Wiveton, picnic from Cley Deli , the Crab Shed at Wells next the Sea. And lots more .

Lovely place , this is just a taste , have a great time

Norfolk's great for crabbing. Top spots are Blakeney and Wells-next-the-Sea quays and Cromer. Or go for the tidal creek at Titchwell or Brancaster Staithe.
Eric’s fish and chips is amazing.

If you are heading into Norwich, pop into the Cathedral to see Dippy. Then have lunch at the Waffle House. www.cathedral.org.uk/dippy-on-tour

We are headed up there today. Have pre booked fish and chips to collect from Eric’s to eat on Holme beach as the sun goes down 🙂
