Dartmoor activities

Have a holiday to Dartmoor, kids 15 and 8. Any ideas of activities and places to visit? Only there mon-fri and don’t want to be busy everyday.
Can’t check in until 3 on arrival so thinking of heading straight to a beach that morning.. recommendations?
Then I’m thinking maybe horse riding or something one day, a nice walk to take in some pretty scenery. I don’t want to do things like zoos I can do at home.
Thanks

The Granite Way is a well-surfaced 11 mile trail between Lydford and Okehampton and it can be accessed directly from Devon Cycle Hire.
South Devon Steam railway runs from Buckfastleigh and Totnes and there’s an otter sanctuary and butterfly house right by the station at Buckfastleigh.
House of Marbles and Teign Valley Glass is a brilliant place to take kids if the weather isn’t great.
For a nice walk, I’d suggest a circular walk from Haytor Rocks to Hound Tor holidayindartmoor.co.uk/haytor-vale/haytor-rocks-to-hound-tor-circular-walk-36888.html

Also the Tamar Valley high ropes, tamartrails I think is the website, great, courses for all ages.

If you're lucky enough with the weather, hire paddleboards at Bantham beach. Hope Cove also a beautiful beach for messing about on the water.

Ours love getting fish and chips at Rockfish on Dartmoor and eating them somewhere along the water, ideally crabbing while they're at it.

A mooch around Salcombe is nice, getting the small ferry to portlemouth from the top of the high street. Salcombe ice cream is usually enough incentive to buy me some time in the shops!

There's a llama / alpaca walk across Dartmoor - did it last year. It was all llamas and 1 alpaca.

We also did gorging with adventure Okehampton, which was walking in the river /rocks. adventureokehampton.com/
