Things to do near The Lizard

We've booked a campsite on The Lizard this year. We've been before and decided to go again as the area is quiet for Cornwall and the site isn't charging silly money. We visit Cornwall a lot (living just over the border) and have been to Pendennis castle, Glendurgan gardens, St Michael's Mount, the Maritime museum and wandered around Falmouth several times. Happy to revisit some places but would like some recommendations for nice villages/towns for a mooch and other places worth seeing within an hour at holiday traffic pace of The Lizard. Is the Seal Sanctuary worth a visit?

Mousehole via the Tremenheere sculpture garden
St Ives via NT Godolphin
Trelissick Garden

Hmmmm I don't really think seal sanctuary is worth it unless someone REALLY likes seals. Paradise Park near Hayle has better range of activities.
Trebah Gardens next to Glendurgan is lovely also Trengwainton near Penzance, trelissick near Falmouth (can combine with King Harry Ferry and exploring Roseland peninsula which is lovely. )
Similarly you can take a boat from Falmouth to St Mawes or explore up Carrick Roads river. Lots of nice walks and beautiful views around Flushing and Mylor.

Or just stick to the Lizard. Cadgwith, Coverack, Mullion Cove, Gunwalloe, Porthleven. Loe Pool/Penrose Estate.
I take it you know about Roskilly's. That's obviously a must!

Some great suggestions there thanks. And yes we know Roskilly's. We did a walk from the camp site last time with an ice-cream sundae near the end to bribe the kids. Looking forward to doing that again.

You mustn't miss going to The Minack theatre. You need to book at the moment though. It's open outside of performance times. You won't be disappointed!

We’ve done the Minack pre DC. We stayed at Treen camp site which was in walking distance. The show that’s on while we are down is about Laurel and Hardy and £££ so I think we’ll save it for another time.

The telegraph museum in Porthcurno is very interesting (more than I thought!)
The seal sanctuary is good but quite expensive (but the money helps to find it).

We love Little Trevothan campsite and there is a pretty walk down into Coverack for a pint at the Paris Hotel and some fish and chips. There are a team of people renting kayaks in the harbour. There is also (allegedly) a sculpture park in a neighbouring estate but we have yet to find it.
At night you can hear Nightjars whirring and we have also seen barn owls out hunting.
Helford and all the little villages along the Helford River are just stunning, best viewed from a hired motorboat IMO!
Glendurgan Gardens are gorgeous and lead down to a little beach.

St mawes and then take the king Harry ferry across to Trelissick.
Trengwainton gardens near Penzance

We're staying at Little Trevothan for the second time. Popping acros to St Mawes is a great plan. We did Pendennis last time and have English Heritage membership so the castle makes sense. I'll look up motor boat hire on the Helford River as that sounds like a great idea. Love Glendurgan a lot but have been a few times and fancy a change.
