Looking for ideas of Zoo’s to visit, this week, with 16 yr old & 12 yr old. We’re based in South Yorkshire. Last zoo we went to was Cheshire Zoo, which was great but don’t fancy that one again just yet. Have been to Tycross some 12 years ago, what’s that like?
Any ideas? Would love to do safari type thing but longeat is a bit too far & all booked up this week.
It’s either that or maybe a theme park. Our favourite was flamingo land. Alton towers would be good but talking ££££.
Any ideas?

Yorkshire wildlife park, although I've never actually been so not sure if it's the sort of thing you're looking for.

South lakes safari zoo is good and they have zoo keeper and feeding experiences?

MamaTutu2 · 01/06/2021 14:21

If you’re considering twycross you could probably get to West Midlands safari park?

MoiraNotRuby · 01/06/2021 14:22

Twycross is ok for teen friends to go round together, but I don't think they would enjoy a family day out there. Then again I can't think of anything my 14 and 16 yo would want to do as a family trip. Maybe its my kids rather than the zoo itself Wink

West Midlands Safari park. Works really well with the theme parks and roller coasters for older kids

What animals do they like?
My 8&9yos like Yorkshire Wildlife Park... Polar bears, lions, wallabies, meerkats, lemurs. However tickets will be hard to get for this week, we could only get late slots booking a couple of weeks ago. Other zoos might be similar. (Late tickets suit us as we are 20mins walk away and haveseason passes)

Knowsley Safari Park?
Just outside Liverpool

Do the Safari and Liverpool in the same day as they are only 8 miles apart

Have you considered as an alternative an RSPB reserve or someone in your area similar to Slimbridge?

Blackpool zoo then head to the pleasure beach

West Midlands safari park is great and has some bigger rides which would suit your DCs ages. We went there a couple of years ago when my dds were 11 and 14 and had a great day.
