Lyme Regis at half term

We are staying at Lyme Regis during half term and wondered if anyone had any suggestions for a 13 and 9 year old. They are fossil mad so we wanted to go to the jurassic centre in Seaton but it's not reopening.
We are planning a day in Weymouth but other than that any and all suggestions would be great.....

Once you've done the local things it's not too bad to Exeter, they have lovely shops, nice places to eat etc. And a big climbing centre!

If your two are energetic you could walk up the golden cap, beautiful views on the right day..

They’ve got a Go Ape at Exeter too, we did it last year, it’s really good. You can hire bikes as well I think, there are trails.

Rock pooling at Kimmeridge is fun too.

Not sure what Splashdown is like anymore but I loved it at your children's age.

Take them to The Whole Hog - fabulous doughnuts!

Fossil hunting on Charmouth beach, we were there mid April and there’s a recent rockfall with lots of ammonite imprints to find

If they’re into history more generally there are various Iron Age hill forts around eg Pilsdon Pen (great views).

Are they too old for crabbing? West Bay quay seemed a popular location, kit on sale all over.

Get the little land train to hengisbury head and enjoy a beach day. Walk back. Lovely. Also I loved splashdown as a 9 - 13 yr old.

Abbotsbury is brilliant. There is the swannery there as well. Is the Seaton tramway oen? Or the caves at Beer?

Lyme has a lovely river walk to the edge of town or to Uplyme.

happytoday73 · 18/05/2021 06:36

Thank you everyone... I will look at these tonight with the kids...
