Cardiff and Tenby - Teens

bendmeoverbackwards · 15/05/2021 09:53

Got a half term break booked, 2 night in Cardiff, 3 nights in Tenby.

Any good recommendations for teens please? Trying to keep my 14 year old dd happy who would usually prefer a pool holiday.

One thing I’d really like to do is see the waterfalls in the Brecon Beacons, is this easy to do from Cardiff?

Have a look for coasteering around Tenby.

Yes very easy to do... it’s probably about a 40 minute journey from cardiff to the falls. They are beautiful. Sgwd yr eira is my favourite... you can walk behind it. www.breconbeacons.org/things-to-do/attractions/natural/visiting-waterfall-country/walking-trails

There is a new zip line opening too but I’m not sure if that’s open by then. www.zipworld.co.uk/location/tower?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIgumDwtfL8AIVF4bVCh1zdASbEAAYASAAEgItmvD_BwE

Amazing burger place in Brecon called ‘Hills’ which is well worth a visit if you are up around Brecon too. www.hillsbrecon.co.uk/

Keep an eye out for Wally the walrus in Tenby too!

Dobby’s grave (Harry Potter) is around 40 mins from Tenby at Freshwater West. Also a surf school at Freshwater East.

If there weather is tropical. Enroute to Tenby stop off at Pembrey Country Park. 5 miles of Sandy beach.

What sort of things does your DD enjoy? I live in Cardiff and have a teen DD, so will help if I can.

Hmmm, let's see - online clothes shopping, TikTok, make up, Netflix and animals Grin

She does quite like some activities - loved body boarding in Portugal a few years ago, likes Go Ape etc.

An afternoon in the city centre should appeal, then. Massive Primark, Urban Outfitters, quirky shops in the arcades- she might like Tealith in the Royal Arcade for bubble tea. There are quite a few vintage shops if she’s into that. It’s a very small shopping area, easy to navigate.

Cardiff Bay has boat trips, lots of places (mainly chains) to eat, and an Everyman cinema which is gorgeous-tiny rooms, dinky velvet sofas and drinks/food brought to your seat. Might be a nice way to spend one evening.

take the water taxi from Cardiff bay - lots of fun. Go to St Fagin's outdoor museum outside Cardiff - it's free.

Fantastic tips, thank you so much!

Just one more question - it’s dh’s birthday on the day we’re driving from Cardiff to Tenby. Any recommendations for afternoon tea in Tenby or en route?

If you want scones as big as your head sat on a balcony overlooking North Beach then you can’t go wrong with Caffe Vista in the town.
