My 8 year old daughter go on holiday together and have great times. My husband and 15 year old son stay at home.

Now my husband says he wants to come with us next year with our son hopefully! I'm stumped, can't think of anything at all.

When I go with my daughter, I just pick a good hotel that has breakfast and evening meals, indoor pool if poss, near shops and entertainment.

I suggested a week in Telford to my husband as I found a hotel with a pool that sounds nice and he's like. "Why would I want to go to Telford?"

Has anyone got any suggestions? Ideally it's be something like a nice hotel, that has some kind of evening entertainment. Some area of interest in the area, maybe a theatre or something? Within 3 hours driving of North Wales. I like a pool myself but not essential.

Which hotel are you looking at?

You will have Ironbridge(nice eateries) on your doorstep...plus the Blist Hill Museams.

You have Shrewsbury and the shopping at Birmingham within Driving/Train distance.

Have lived in Shropshire forever if you want any info. please feel free to give me a shout!

Thanks for that Lissielou.

I've been online and checked the hotels and just to try things out as a family, I've booked 2 nights at the International hotel in Telford for a weekend in February.
It looks good and it's only £29.99 a night for all four of us, as we'll be in one room, includes continental breakfast and bacon baps.

Thought this way that if husband and/or son back out, the rest of us can go without losing any money.

Looks like a good place to stay and we can use the pool next door, do you know it? Another place I was considering was the Telford Whitehouse, is that further from the town centre though?
I'm hoping that if we like it for a short break we could go back there in the summer for a longer break!

the international hotel is right by the town park and town centre, the holiday inn is next door and has a nice pool and onsite holitic therapists.

shrewsbury is a 10 minute train journey (20 mins drive) and is lovely. really, really pretty! lots of nice shops. there is a lovely restaurant in Ironbridge called "The Severn" hth
