Has anyone been to it? I have an 8 year old daughter who I think would like this and might take her to see it next year some time. As I would have to fly from here I wonder is it worth going for. If we go we would prob just do a day return from Dublin. So anyone been and is it worth a trip.

Haven't been yet, going in a couple of weeks, but have a friend who has been and said it was fab. Also a lot to do at the O2 for a day out.
I remember going to see the exhibition when I was a child and still remember it today. I would say yes, and I'll let you know when I've been.

Oh I want to take ours to see this. Why did you feel like that gf?

poppy34 · 29/12/2007 21:06

gf is right - it is overpriced (went to terracotta soldiers the day before which was £8 cheaper)- although interesting there are only bits of the tutankahamen stuff. There is an awful lot of good egyptian stuff in the british museum and thats free.

Its also VERY crowded...

My in-laws saw it when it was in Chicago and were very disappointed. Not enough gold, apparently

And I do think it is very expensive.

Twiglett · 03/01/2008 19:52

it is supposed to be rather crap

I read an article on it .. was it in the grauniad? will check

I just looked it up to maybe book tickets - too expensive IMO, prices families out of the event I think - £50+ for a weekend family ticket.

We went the other week and quite enjoyed it. It is done in a way that will appeal to kids i think. Yes the British Museum has lots of Egyptian stuff but it is not focused and organised in a way that makes it easily accessible for young children. My neices and nephews loved it. There is some stunning stuff in there. While I have seen better exhibitions I would still recommend it as a family outing.

I should add that we went on the 23rd December and therefore it was rather empty which might have contributed to my enjoyment.
