Leeds?

Hello! I am looking for recommendations on areas/places to live in Leeds. I will be an international student the upcoming fall term and would like to start looking for accommodation.

However, I am not sure where to start. I know for certain I don't want to stay in the university's accommodation as would like to get a better feeling of integrating myself to the British community as opposed to the international student one. Been there, done that and I ended up excluding myself from the locals as all international students hung out together. I want a more British experience this time so to speak.

Thank you xx

Headingley is where the vast majority of students live. It’s lively and vibrant. Roundhay is more family or mature student oriented. Leafy with lots of open parks. Look generally towards the north part of Leeds for accommodation.

Hope this helps and good luck with your studies 😊. Join student societies that interest you to find like minded student friends.

Students do live in Headingley but mainly in Hyde Park or Woodhouse. Meanwood is close to Headingley, about a 40 minute walk to the University and has a nice park, bars and restaurants.

I would agree that a lot of the international students hang out together and tend to live in international halls so I would avoid those if you want to integrate better.

I would say the ones mentioned already. I just want to add that what you get with Leeds is Leeds/Yorkshire culture not British culture as such. All areas of Britain are so different. I lived there, as a Brit, and despite really trying I universally failed to integrate into the local culture.
