Weekend In Surrey / kent

Can anyone recommend somewhere for a 2 night stay within 2 hours of SW London and easily accessible by train? Would be happy to take a short taxi journey from the station if needed.

It’s for our anniversary so looking for somewhere naice

Doesn’t have to be loads to do but would like a country walk and a good pub as a minimum.

Beaulieu Hotel in the New Forest is within walking distance of the station, even when you've got a suitcase! It takes about 1hr45mins on the train from Waterloo including one change. It has an indoor pool and New Forest ponies grazing directly opposite the front door. The Drift Inn is an excellent pub.

The Kings Head in Wye is an award-winning Gastropub with cosy tasteful rooms. Wye has a station on the mainline from Charing Cross and there are beautiful walks directly onto the Kent Downs and Wye Nature Reserve.

The Swan hotel in Arundel is lovely, fab food, gorgeous rooms - ours had a working fireplace which was perfect for afternoon tea after a long walk. The castle is walking distance ( like about 5-10 mins i think) with lovely grounds, and there are loads of pretty walks nearby.
