I am thinking about maybe taking a little trip with the kids to New Brighton. Has anybody been and would you recommend it? I don't really know the area at all. Thanks.

We stayed on the Wirral last year and popped in to see New Brighton.

It is a typical seaside place with chippys and amusements but I would not have thought there was that much to do there for little ones - unless the weather is good and the beach is nice (the tide was in when we went).

It was fairly busy and the car parks were not quite full. There are nicer places on the West side of the Wirral though. Birkenhead is a bit of a dump.

Its a nice place for a few hours, long promenade, Crazy golf, good for kite flying, crab fishing etc. Beach is nice.
As it has a big Morrisons and Home and Bargain we often go shopping as its nice for a wander along the front and get the shopping at the same time
Seaside cafe does traditional English food, Egg and chips etc, its great for a wet day

I would combine it with a trip to Liverpool as if the weather is poor Liverpool has a lot more on offer

West Kirby and Hoylake are nicer but New Brighton has more amusement stuff to do. Combine it with trips to Liverpool, Chester and North Wales and you’ll have a great time.

Thats excellent advice

Ah thank you very much everyone. That was actually my thinking to maybe combine it with a day into Liverpool. I just fancy a last minute get away at half term! Fingers crossed that is possible still Smile

I second that west Kirby is nicer

Whilst many of the other beaches on the wirral are nicer none are the same as New Brighton as they are just beaches.
Its best to combine Liverpool in the trip as if its bad weather Liverpool has some excellent indoor museums.
New Brighton has a few more attractions so it feels more seesidy
