UK break in November

Hello - DH and I are expecting our first baby in March so we're looking to go away for 2 or 3 nights in the UK - last trip just the 2 of us before we become 3. Really down that because of covid we can't go abroad so want to make the most of UK break.

Anyway, does anyone have any recommendations for:

  1. Places to go in UK in November? Couple of hours drive max from Berkshire . We'll have to avoid the coast because of the weather and want somewhere pretty where there is a good choice of restaurants, pubs and cafes. Not Bath because I want to go there for a spa weekend some time after baby is born so I can make use of the spa hotels and Roman baths post pregnancy Grin but a similar pretty town would be great? We considered the Cotswolds too but worried we might get bored there as really want a place with a good choice of restaurants as due to lockdown I have been going crazy indoors!

  2. Any nice, romantic, boutique or adults only hotels to stay? Definitely don't want a cottage or self catered apartment.

I'm asking for a lot I know! But really want this to be special. DH and I haven't had a chance to travel a lot since being married so want to make the most of this break. X

Cocktails4One · 13/09/2020 20:16

I wish I could be of more help but all our best finds are Up North
I would head for North Wales lots of hidden gems

No problem @Funf - thanks anyway. I'd love to go far out but been so sick and uncomfortable during this pregnancy that I'm worried about car trip adding loads of places to my post pregnancy /children bucket list Smile

Urgh my post didn't make much sense. I meant I'm worried about getting car sick. But Wales is definitely one of the many places on my list for another time x

Brockenhurst is incredibly pretty. Have a look at The Pig hotel and Carey’s Manor. We’ve also had a great stay at The Montagu Arms in Beaulieu but there might not be enough choice of restaurants for you.

Thanks you -Brockenhurst looks amazing! Hadn't thought of that and really liking the look of Carey's Manor x

We had a really lovely break at Limewood hotel in Lyndhurst - just down the road from Brockenhurst. The hotel restaurant itself itself is very good and there are other decent ones nearby too. Autumn is a great time to be in the new forest IMO.
