Amazing to see so much already booked for October half term! Anyone else struggling to find SC in UK then?

I booked 4 nights in a cottage complex with pool (families all get bookable slots) in Somerset but not coastal. Booked it last week. Looks lovely and a friend recommended. Seemed to be plenty of lets in Somerset but I didn't look anywhere else. We live by the coast so not worried about coastal stay in October. Are you tied to a particular area?

I’m struggling to find anywhere too. I was looking at the Peak District but can’t find anything. Following this thread to see if any suggestions come up!

I was looking at Centre Parcs initially then similar type lodge places. Then cottages. I was just amazed at how booked up things were.

Yup :( Tried all the holiday cottage websites but can't find what we want: 3 bedrooms, bath. Nice house with a view. Coastal. Northumberland or Wales, ideally.

Bollocks.

You have my sympathies - I saved some cottages about a month ago and never got round to booking - most have gone now.

Anyone know what it's like holidaying in a local lockdown area? eg are you still able to eat out if you want; are attractions still open? Have looked at gov.uk advice but haven't found it very clear.

Slightly out of the Peaks, but try Quarry Walk Park near Alton Towers. Log cabins with hot tubs. No idea if they would have availability though.

It may be because of people who have moved bookings from earlier in the year? We had a week's holiday (cottage in the UK) booked for Easter this year, and once lockdown had started, we were able to move it to October half term instead.

Try Scotish locations - half term is the beginning of October so not competing with Scottish families.

I have a holiday booked. But currently in a lockdown area, so will probably cancel it. Hoping they will end the lockdown soon.
