Broadstairs

We’ve booked a little apartment in the heart of Broadstairs for a week in August.

Any recommendations for the area? We will have a 7 and 12 yr old with us.

Broadstairs is fantastic we love it!
Def go to Morellis ice cream parlour it's right on the sea front, you can eat in it take away.
We love the American diner called Raindells which is on the road that runs parallel to the sea front.
The main Viking bay beach has a snack bar, bouncy castle, trampolines etc. There are quieter beaches either side that are more popular with the locals and it's lovely to walk round to the little snack bars on them for breakfast.
The Shell Grotto in Margate is a fascinating little place and also the Tunnels at Ramsgate where whole communities lived during the war.

The arcades in Margate are fab and the kids will love them. The flamingo arcade has a mini golf course in the basement which is really good. There are also outdoor ones in Broadstairs and Manston. Quite a few lovely ice cream places around too.

Plenty of gorgeous beaches around Thanet although I genuinely recommend exploring a little bit rather than just heading for the main ones. If you walk along Margate towards Westgate and Birchington you'll find so many pretty ones.

The Cow Shed restaurant in Birchington is incredible. Can be a bit pricy but they are taking part in the government eat out to help out scheme through August. The Buoy and Oyster in Margate is also great if you like seafood.

Westwood cross has plenty of shops if you need anything plus chain restaurants.

Walk from Broadstairs to Ramsgate
Is lovely and great for kids. Wetherspoons (sounds awful but really isn't) in Ramsgate is great for coffee/breakfast stop - is right next to beach at at the end of walk.
Bowling in Cliftonville is also good depending on your kids ages (slightly grotty area though!).
Lovely Thai BYO restaurant- very small so would
need to book well in advance. Not sure if these are open post COVID.... Howletts Zoo not far away.
