Cornwall stopover

Hi all, awaiting info on whether OK to still travel but I've got a cottage booked in Cornwall in August. Cottage is right down near Lizard and I'll be travelling from Wales.
Ideally I want to stop overnight on way and way back to break up the journey. Ideally a Premier Inn to take advantage of cancellation policy in case the cottage gets cancelled.
What I'm stuck on is where to stay? Would be end of m5, south devon area I guess. But would like a nice nearby attraction to visit, thinking NT type place to walk, not a busy beach or too touristy so perhaps not Torbay.
Just somewhere to relax and walk a bit to get up fresh next morning for remaining journey.
Any ideas? Is Dartmoor too far to travel off route for example?
TIA.

Knightshayes is a great M5 motorway stop-off with plenty of room to roam in the scenic parkland, it’s got everything you need in pretty surroundings for a quick break. It’s 10 minutes from M5 Junction 27.

Riverside Valley Park extends several miles along a river and canal. There are pushchair friendly trails to follow of varying lengths or you can head to the Double Locks pub and enjoy drinks and snacks in a scenic setting and the chance for the kids and/or dog to stretch their legs. It’s 10 minutes from Junction 31 or a little bit more from Junction 30.

If you want to spend a little longer off the motorwayand enjoy one of my most favourite outdoor spaces in Bristol then get off at Junction 18 and head towards Blaise Castle Estate. Blaise is awesome for a number of reasons. There is a free car park, epic playground, free toilets and a café.

We stayed overnight at Orchard Retreat which is a yurt in an apple orchard. Private bathroom. Near Knightshayes which I'd second as a great stop off. Also there is a Gruffalo trail around Exeter.

We have also stopped at Taunton Premier Inn but that's just off the road and it's an arrive 9pm, sleep, leave 9am kind of deal.
