Hi all,

Hoping for some suggestions/recommendations...

Want to plan a (long) weekend away with a friend in the UK (both planning to escape husbands & kids for a nice catch up and treat weekend away), somewhere in the middle since we're at opposite ends - would be nice to have some sort of activity (walking/cookery or baking class/cocktail making/gin tasting/kayaking/pretty much anything but not pole dancing basically). Dates TBD depending what and where it is.

Any ideas and/or recommendations welcomed. Thanks much!

Well I know not everyone on here likes it but center parcs did jump out at me for this. You would get an apartment fairly cheap. Loads of walking, no cars once there, spa, pool, food, drinks. You could do some other activities if you felt like it.

Thanks @moobar - I hadn't thought about centerparcs - it's worth a look, but I wouldn't want to really be with lots of kids etc so not sure ... I think my friend has been before though I never have so I'll see what she thinks.

Anyone else out there got other suggestions?

York, Durham, Matlock Bath area, peak district? All beautiful places with a multitude of things to do.

If you want to do some sort of activity why not look at www.craftcourses.com/ You can search by region , postcode, activity type.

Walking in the Peak District.

A weekend with Yogahikes. They do yoga and hiking (obviously) in the Lake District.

York was my first thought?

If you're looking in the middle, how about the Cotswolds? Plenty of gin based activities and good for all levels of walking too. You'd probably be able to get a nice place with a hot tub (if that's your thing) for a reasonable price.

If you're looking in the middle, how about the Cotswolds?

The Cotswolds are SO not in the middle.
