My bf & I hope to fly to Yorkshire & hire a car to travel around. Any recommendations on places to see?

We stayed in a best western country house in Lamphy, Pembrokeshire, Wales last year & he adored the place. So similar accommodation would be fab, we'd be happy to move around & not have a base if we got to see more of the place

York, Knaresborough would be two good starters

Helmsley
Malnam cove
Sutton bank white horse
Whitby abbey
Robin hoods bay
Fountains and Rievaux Abbeys

Depending on how long you've got, I'd recommend seeing Haworth, York, Ilkley, Harrogate, try and get to the east coast - Whitby, robin hoods bay. Leeds is pretty central to most of the places and only a couple of hours to the coast or you could maybe look to stay more towards York.

Can't think of places to stay off the top of my head.

York is an absolute must!

I presume you'll be flying into Leeds/Bradford? Piece of advice, don't bother with Leeds or Bradford! (no offence to those who live there btw)

York, Harrogate, Knaresborough, Pateley Bridge also Newby Hall near Ripon is a lovely day out.

Oh and Haworth as a PP said!! Masham is also nice and Wensleydale

For some reason I got no notifications for the thread, thanks for the replies, I've a friend from Bradford but she lives here so won't need to visit.
