Best theme park for 5 year old

Would like to take DS for a trip to a theme park in the Spring. Potentially for 2 days with overnight stay at hotel in or near the park.

He is 5. Unsure of height right at this mome t but would assume 1-1.1m range

I would have to take him on a weekend. Based in East Anglia wouldn't be wanting to go too far North or West

Been looking at Legoland and Alton Towers so far. Legoland seems to have a wider range of rides suitable for my sons age whereas AT is mainly the cbeebies land bit. Legoland is a lot more pricey to stay in the resort hotel but can get AT hotel with waterpark access for not a bad price

Any recommendations for best parks? Haven't fully looked at Chessington or any of the smaller parks dotted about the country yet.

I was going to say Paultons Park but that's too far for you.
Legoland should be fine for him though. We loved legoland

How old were your little ones when you went? Any tips for LL?

Legoland or Chessington. But I'd go for Legoland. Perfect for that age group. My two love dit when they were small.

Chessington is great for that age, we have gone for 3 years with dd who is now 5 and she loves it

Drayton Manor has Thomas Land and other tamer rides than many places. Also shorter queues than Legoland.

What about Drayton Manor Park (thomas the tank engine world) - 2 hours from Cambridge.

I'd say Gullivers at that age tbh., everything is designed for small children so the prices are sensible and it's very relaxed in comparison to others. Milton Keynes would be your nearest.

Another vote for a Gullivers, they are aimed at the younger age group. My DD used to love Gullivers World near Warrington.

Having said that we went to Legoland when she was about 3 and really enjoyed that too.

Paultons Park is ace for that age, and is only an hour on from Legoland straight down the M3. There's a Premier Inn less than 5 minutes from it.
Also nearby are the New Forest Wildlife Park and Longdown Activity Farm.
From say Cambridge it is 3-3.5 hrs with no stops provided the M25 is playing ball.

Sundown Adventureland in the East Midlands is for children under 10 and is a full day out
Also Bewilderwood in Norfolk is great
I think Alton Towers is better for older kids
Legoland is good but I prefer the other two

Adventure Island in Southend is fab for that age - lots of rides to go on and adults ride for free with those under blue band height.
Lots to do in the area too - Barleylands Farm, Wat Tyler Country Park, Monkey Bizzness

Prefer Chessington over Legoland but both are good. We have a Merlin pass and go regularly with our dd who is 4 and a half. She can go on everything she wants to go on, although she's not a huge adrenaline junkie so is happy with the tea cups

Drayton manor and paultons park a would be my recommendation. We go to Chessington and Legoland throughout the year too though so they are just as good.. although more expensive and busier.
