Advice for Center Parcs

Hi, hope someone can give me some advice, we are going to centre parcs in a week and are not sure wether to take are bikes or not. We have been before and have a bike seat for my daughter who was about 20 months the first time she used it. However my son is only 10 months old and I have been looking to get a helmet for him and as his head is only 46cm they don't seem to have many around. Also some sites have said not to put them in a helmet until after they are 12 months old and not to use bike seats/trailers. Would like to know what other people have done and if any one has got any suggestions for us. We are going to the Whinfell Forest in Cumbria.

The Cumbria one is fab IMO. I would take your bikes if you can, since they are pricey to hire. See what others say, though.

I've not been to Whinfell, but went to Longleat just over a week ago. Bike hire is quite pricey, but it does save taking your own (I haven't got a bike carrier for my car). Adult hire for the week was £30. I didn't note how much the children's trailers were - though did see a lot of children of various ages in them, including one child sat in a car seat, which was then put in the trailer.

However, your villa location is very important. Usually when I go to center parcs, I am usually a long way from the center... this time we were quite close (a 5 min walk), so reality was that I hardly used the bike at all... plus as I was with children this time (I work as a nanny), I was with them a lot of the time in the swimming pool.

Just returned from Elveden, took the children's bikes (10 & 4) but hired a bike and trailer for myself. The trailer is suitable for children from 6 months upward who can sit unaided. my ds2 is 12mths old but I have used the trailer a few yrs ago when my dd2 was 8 mths old., moreover as the trailer fits two children, although not recommended, I rode my 4 yr old in when she did not want to ride hers and they could both fall asleep in it when I fancied a ride around. the weekend rate for the trailer not including the bike, is #15 pounds, I hope this helps and no they did not wear helmets because I have not experienced anyone riding up to 10 miles an hour!!!!.

Thanks for your replys, unfortunately we won't be going as DH has got pneumonia so had to cancel! However your comments will help for when we next go with the in laws.
