DH's 50th in Feb

Does anyone have a suggestion of a lovely boutique/country house hotel in the south east of England? We will only have Fri night to Sun night to go somewhere and celebrate DH's birthday. No kids, just the two of us. We live just north of London and don't want to spend the weekend there. Hotels in or near historic cities would be particularly good. TIA.

We stayed on Burgh Island for my DH's big birthday. We picked a murder mystery weekend and it was fab. something that you wouldnt do with the kids.

If you head to East Anglia, you could stay at the Swan in Lavenham, which is a beautiful and historic town.

Alternatively, there's another Swan in Southwold on the coast.

Thank you! I think Burgh Island is a bit far from Herts for a weekend, but Suffolk is a possibility.
