AIBU to think Dundee is not the best uk city to visit for a staycation

I read online earlier that Dundee won the best City to visit in the Uk at the staycation awards. Yes, the entire uk. AIBU to think wtf! Surely London, Bristol, York, Newcastle, Belfast, Glasgow and Birmingham are better places to visit. Unless I'm missing something?

You are not being in the slightest bit unreasonable. Yes, there is the new V and A, yes, the waterside has been made more attractive but it is still a small rather dour wee city with little to keep you.

@midsomermurderess that's what I thought, I've visited so many places in the uk and Dundee was nice but not much to see beyond 3-4 attractions. Quite dour as you say and maybe a bit dirty too. Sorry don't mean to offend anyone.

I can’t believe it won over Edinburgh. Clearly not enough people voted!

@GrumpyHoonMain agreed. Edinburgh has so much more to offer, as does Glasgow, Stirling, Aberdeen not to mention cities in England wales and n Ireland. Dundee has only a couple of good restaurants and about 3-4 attractions. The only decent hotel is the apex. Must have been lots of dundonisns voting Smile

As someone from the area - Dundee and the surrounds are great and there is plenty to keep you busy for a few days

if you have access to a car lots of gorgeous places to visit - Balirgowrie, castles all over the place, the nature reserve at Montrose, Donnnotar castle, golf links all over the place and of course the beautiful bridge o'er the silvery Tay.

Ireland’s not in the uk so our cities couldn’t be considered for it.
