The Mary Rose Museum

If there's anybody who knows the Dockyard/Mary Rose exhibition, I'd be grateful for clarification please.

Do I need tickets for the Historic Dockyard in order to get to the Mary Rose Museum? I think probably not, but the map shows the Museum inside the Dockyard, and it's cheaper to buy tickets in advance, so need to be prepared.

Many thanks.

No, it used to be included in the dockyard ticket, but is now separate. You can go to Mary Rose museum without paying for dockyard tickets. It's great there - enjoy!

Thank you very much Supercatlady. I'll book the train and the tickets.

Just want to add that personally I think the dockyard is much better than the Mary Rose Musuem. It's better value and has loads to see. The HMS victory and warrior are amazing as is the submarine Musuem and boat trip.

Mary Rose is separate from everything else on site. But be warned that if you buy a Mary Rose ticket, you will not be able to go into any other attraction. The MR museum is pretty good but Victory is far better 😀

Thank you everybody for your helpful comments. Looks like we may have to make a return visit in order to see everything.

The Mary Rose Museum is fabulous. We went when my youngest was 8 and went back this summer, (she's now 18). We all thought it was amazing. The whole Historic Dockyard is a great place to visit and your "passport" ticket allows you to go back at other times to visit the exhibits that you haven't already seen.

The annual ticket for the Dockyard is amazingly good value. You can't possibly do it all in a day; the Mary Rose is a half day in itself.

The two are separate but both equally awesome to check out. The Mary Rose has some amazing exhibitions on at the moment including one about putting faces and personalities to those who went down on it. Highlight from the Historic Dockyard has to be the new Warrior exhibition where you can chat to actors in the different parts. The engine room is horrendous and it's shocking the conditions they had to to endure. Also, definitely check out FEED under the arches by Gunwharf for a brilliant breakfast. Their pancakes are amazinggggggg.

We went to the Historic Dockyard and The Mary Rose Museum in the summer. The latter is the best museum I have been to - my kids were fascinated.
