Norfolk hotel recommendations

Hi all,

I'm looking to book a weekend away at the end of October for my DF birthday. We haven't been on holiday this year as we're saving for our wedding next year but it would be nice to spend a couple of nights away. I'm desperate to get a break from work and have something to look forward to. I definitely have holiday envy at the moment!

I was thinking of the Norfolk area as I hear such lovely things. Does anyone have any area or hotel recommendations?

Thanks

Do you want a town or countryside/coast?

acupofteamakeseverythingbetter · 20/09/2019 18:03

Countryside/coast would be preferred I think. I work in London so would be nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of a town, and just go somewhere for longs walks

This place is nice. Not budget, though.

The White Horse, Titchwell Manor are nice. So is Rose and Crown at Snettisham

Lovely options already mentioned. The Hoste Arns in Burnham Market is pricey but gorgeous and great food.

AlexaAmbidextra · 20/09/2019 21:57

I’d beg to differ about the Hoste. It’s gone downhill but is still so pretentious it’s disappeared up it’s own arse and full of braying hoorays. I love the Victoria at Holkham, in fact I’ve been there this week. Also the Rose & Crown at Snetterton. There’s also the Gunton Arms at Thorpe Market which is choc full of eccentric art as owned by art dealer Ivor Braka and set in a beautiful deer park. Galton Blackiston’s place, Morston Hall is good too and close to the coast.

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 20/09/2019 22:04

@Ricekrispie22 is on the money. The Hoste is all right but tbh I was quite disappointed with my steak

Notonthestairs · 21/09/2019 08:42

Fair enough Alexa. I have a soft spot for the Hoste as my parents are local and kindly booked me and DH a night there a couple of weeks before our second child was born. I turned up feeling like a giant over ripe tomato, struggling to get comfy in any position and very grumpy - the staff there couldn't have been kinder.

AlexaAmbidextra · 21/09/2019 10:22

Notonthestairs. I’m glad you had a lovely time at The Hoste. Absolutely no need to justify liking the place to me. 🙂. I just thoroughly disliked it there. It would be boring if we all liked the same things. Many would agree with you as it always seems to be busy.
